Cindy Canterberry, Financial Aid Counselor Sr., has been named the Marshall University Employee of the Month for August, according to Michelle Brown Douglas, chair of the Employee of the Month Committee.
An employee for almost eight years, she was nominated by Deanna L. Stewart of Housing and Residence Life.
In her nomination Stewart wrote that Canterberry goes beyond her call as an advisor in financial aid and noted that when Stewart’s daughter, a student, was having health issues in 2009, Canterberry was always available to answer questions and gave invaluable counsel so that she could continue her education. “I was constantly calling Cindy, asking questions on what we needed to do … not one time did she come across as agitated or non-professional … you could almost see her smile on the phone. Cindy not only gave financial aid support but emotional support as well. She always greats everyone with a smile, which I think is important. She has the professional, emotional and communication skills that are important when dealing with students and staff. I have witnessed her while in the office dealing with other students and staff and have always been impressed with her character.”
Canterberry was presented with a plaque and a check for $100 by President Stephen J. Kopp.
