Reminder: Body Shots to take place Thursday, March 7

BodyShotsVII_03-07-13Body Shots VII:  Lady Gaga’s Secret will be presented at the Francis-Booth Experimental Theatre in the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7. Admission is free to the show, which will run about an hour.

Prior to the performance, beginning at 7 p.m., there will be a reception and an art show featuring works by Marshall students and faculty.

The show’s theme uses Lady Gaga’s provocative and often contentious challenges to boundaries of gender and sexuality as its jumping-off point. Performers will use a host of creative forms—prose, performance art, dancing, even roller skating, to explore what Lady Gaga’s secret might reveal.

Body Shots is a unique collaborative effort involving Marshall students and faculty from across disciplines exploring themes relating to gender and the body.  Participants are from art and  design, biology, history, political science, sociology and anthropology, theatre and dance, among others.

The performance is being sponsored by the College of Fine Arts, School of Art and Design, Department of History, Women’s Studies, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Women’s Center, and Sexuality Studies.
