Marshall donors, scholarship recipients to be honored at brunch

Marshall University donors and current recipients of privately funded scholarships will be honored Saturday, April 11, at the Scholarship Honor Brunch in the Memorial Student Center’s Don Morris Room.

The event, sponsored by the Marshall University Foundation, begins at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Ron Area, CEO of the Marshall University Foundation, will serve as master of ceremonies and will speak on “Scholarships: Bridging the Gap.” Also speaking will be students Olivia Milam of Spanishburg, West Virginia, and Andrea Hensley of Barboursville.

Milam is a returning student majoring in computer science in the College of Information Technology and Engineering. She previously graduated from the College of Liberal Arts with a double major in History and Humanities.

A recipient of both the Wellman Family Foundation Scholarship and the Morris E. & Kathleen Thomas Memorial Scholarship, Milam will give a talk titled “Scholarships: Enabling Creativity.”

Hensley is a junior majoring in chemistry in the College of Science. She is a recipient of both the Virgil E. and Irene O. Hodges Memorial Scholarship and the Francis A. Scott Scholarship. Her talk is titled “Scholarships: Traveling the World.”
