Opera Theatre to present Opera Gala

Marshall University Opera Theatre will present its spring Opera Gala “From Vienna to Broadway” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, in Smith Recital Hall.

“It will be a grand night for singing,” said Linda Dobbs, director of the Opera Gala. “I hope many will come to hear Marshall University’s talented students perform favorites from a music theatre tradition that spans over two hundred years.”

The semi-staged concert features arias and scenes from grand opera including Mozart’s “The Impresario,” “Bizet’s Carmen,” and Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” (Cinderella) as well as songs from the musicals “Shenandoah,” “Candide,” “Songs for a New World,” “Little Women,” and “A Little Night Music.”
