Nearly 500 attend Wellness Fair

A record crowd of nearly 500 people attended this year’s Wellness Fair. Three hundred people received flu shots, which depleted the supply of flu vaccinations that day.

But for those who weren’t able to get their flu shots at the fair, free shots are available at the Cabell-Huntington Health Department, which is located at 7th Avenue and 7th Street. Several local pharmacies also offer the shots for a charge.

“This year was fantastic; the fair had a much higher volume than previous ones,”  said Pam Alcala, training and development specialist. “This is both great news and bad news. More employees are caring about their wellness and taking action to protect it. Unfortunately, we completely depleted our supply of flu vaccinations.”

More than 30 prizes were given out during the fair, which was sponsored by Marshall Health, MU Athletics, Sodexo, MU Bookstore, Memorial Student Center, Sustainability Department, Rec Center, PEIA and Human Resource Services. The full list of winners is available by request at Training and Development in Human Resource Services.
