Faculty Achievements: Dr. Maria Hamilton


Dr. Maria Babiuc-Hamilton’s research on light and gravitational waves from black hole collisions is featured in the Scientist Spotlight Video Series, on West Virginia Science & Research web page.

 

The research is carried out under the National Science Foundation (NSF) award to the state of West Virginia, “Waves of the Future”.

Hamilton also gave the following talks recently:

  • At the annual National Youth Science Camp in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, titled “Gravitational Waves and More from Cosmic Collisions,” on June 29, 2018;
  • To amateur astronomers from all over the country, at the annual Star Quest, an Optical and Radio Astronomy “Star Party” held at the Green Bank Observatory, Green Bank, West Virginia, titled “Cosmic Alchemy” on July 13, 2018;
  • At the Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society Meeting held at Blackwater Falls Lodge,  West Virginia, titled “Multi-messeger Astronomy and a bit of Alchemy,” on September 8, 2018.
