Open Textbook Network faculty workshop to take place Jan. 31

Open Textbook Workshop 01-31-20Marshall faculty are invited to learn about reducing the cost of textbooks for their students at an Open Textbook Network Faculty Workshop featuring a presenter from the Open Textbook Network (OTN) Friday, Jan. 31, from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. in Drinko Library 349. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The workshop is sponsored by Marshall Libraries and Online Learning and the Center for Teaching and Learning. Registration is open until Jan. 31. Please use the following link to reserve your spot.

Dr. Joe Nowakowski, economics professor at Muskingum University, will present the faculty workshop and introduce attendees to open textbooks and the benefits they can bring to student learning, faculty pedagogical practice and college affordability.

Participating faculty will be invited to engage with an open textbook in their discipline and have the opportunity to write a brief review. Reviewers will be compensated with a $250 stipend. Committing to adopt an open textbook is not required, but textbook reviewers must review an open textbook in applicable subject areas that could potentially be adopted for use in class.
