From the Early Education STEAM Center: Thanks to Physical Plant

Children and educators at the Marshall University Early Education STEAM Center started a new school year in August. Before the first day of school, several changes took place to improve the outdoor learning environment.

Marshall University’s Physical Plant worked efficiently to ensure all safety measures were in place and to create a beautiful space for children to work and play. They replaced the barrier around the playground, modified the sandbox area, installed a music wall and hooks, and added new mulch.

A primary focus of the program is to utilize the environment as the third teacher with opportunities to explore the natural world. Children at the MUEE STEAM Center engage in learning experiences outside as frequently as they do in the indoor classroom, so it is important that the outside space is inviting and conducive to exploration. The outdoor learning environment is ready for children to investigate, discover, collaborate, and imagine. A huge thank you to the Physical Plant!
