Wade, opening the door for states to ban abortion.\u00a0 Abortion is completely banned in West Virginia with very limited exceptions because of a new West Virginia law that went into effect September 16, 2022.\u00a0 If you\u2019re in West Virginia, you\u2019ll need to travel out of West Virginia to get an abortion unless you qualify for an exception. Exceptions are very limited and include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To save the pregnant person&#8217;s life<\/li>\n<li>To preserve the pregnant person&#8217;s physical health<\/li>\n<li>If the fetus is not expected to survive the pregnancy<\/li>\n<li>If the pregnancy is a result of rape and\/or incest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s legal for you to leave West Virginia and get an abortion out of state. Keep in mind that some states require a waiting period. This means you may have to schedule one appointment for a counseling session, then wait a required amount of time before having your abortion appointment.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan C Pills \u2013 abortion pills by mail. Plancpills.org<\/li>\n<li>iNeedAnA \u2013 regularly updates data base for abortion providers and access. Ineedana.org<\/li>\n<li>Abortion Finder \u2013 abortion care across the country. Abortionfinder.org<\/li>\n<li>Holler Health Justice \u2013 local funding for abortion care. Hollerhealthjustice.org<\/li>\n<li>National Network of Abortion Funds \u2013 funding for abortion care. Abortionfunds.org<\/li>\n<li>Self-Managed Abortions, Safe &amp; Supported (SASS) \u2013 WV Free hosts SASS events designed to share information safely and legally.
