HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) \u2014 On the same day that Marshall announced its new offensive coordinator, it would welcome another play-caller, as Shannon Morrison would become the new Defensive coordinator for the 2025 season.<\/p>\n
Morrison is in his third stint at Marshall, where he was most recently the linebackers coach.<\/p>\n
Previously, Morrison has coached Eli Neal and Abraham Beauplan, who are currently on NFL rosters.<\/p>\n
Morrison has proven his ability to coach as his linebackers were critical to the team’s success in 2022. <\/span>Marshall\u2019s defense finished in the top 10 in FBS in several categories, which included being the top-ranked third down defense in all of college football. Marshall was also in the top-10 in FBS in total defense, scoring defense and rushing defense.<\/p>\n However, this Marshall defense has lost many starters to either the transfer portal or the NFL Draft, including Mike Green, JJ Roberts, and Jayden Yates.<\/p>\n This new defense will be put to the test as the Thundering Herd takes on the Georgia Bulldogs on August 30th.<\/p>\n More updates regarding Marshall’s staff will be provided as they become available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Marshall Hiring By Anthony Doria, FM88 Sports Jan. 8, 2025 HUNTINGTON, W.
