(WMUL-FM) \u2014 <\/span><span style=\"\">Marshall University\u2019s recent February break proved to be a challenge and an advantage in student\u2019s studies and personal lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\">The break gave students Thursday Feb. 13 and Friday Feb. 14 off, with classes resuming on Monday Feb. 17.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\">Alexis McFarland, a Marshall University student majoring in psychology, said she used the time off to spend with family and friends.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\">Another student, Nevaeh Bright, used the time to work on homework and do self-care. \u201cOver my break, I plan on getting some assignments done and staying ahead in the semester, but also trying to do something that will help me reset,\u201d Bright said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\">Bright, an entrepreneurship major, believes the break was useful for her as the halfway point of the semester slowly approaches. \u201cThe break will help my studies because it gives me time to study and prepare any questions I may have for my professor if need be or to just stay ahead,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\">However, for some students, it can be challenging to complete assignments during the extra time off. \u201cI think it will hinder my work because I get more homework done when I am in the dorms,\u201d McFarland said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\">Bright also said that the February break is \u201cbeneficial\u201d, when used right. \u201cWe are almost to the midway point in the semester, so it can help you if you use the time well,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"\">With midterm grades due on Feb. 24, it is crucial for students to be on top of their assignments.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><br style=\"\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jordan Ooten February 17, 2025 HUNTINGTON, W.Va.
