Va. (WMUL-FM) \u2014 With the spring semester entering the final stretch, parking has become a major concern for commuter students at Marshall University.<\/p>\n<p>Many commuter students can agree that this has become a growing, and daunting task to battle every day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s definitely gotten worse,\u201d Marshall student Thomas Neal said. \u201cLast year, it wasn\u2019t nearly as bad during my sophomore year. Like last year, during the first semester, it was really as bad, but it\u2019s gotten worse I feel like as the student population has grown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Currently commuter students have three options for parking which consists of lot parking, garage parking, or at the meters. The struggles have resulted in students having to pay more money than they should.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not too bad if you decide to pay the meter or the garage,\u201d Marshall student Alex Stellar said. \u201cBut if you want a free spot, you\u2019re going to have to be there here before 8 a.m.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s kind of frustrating,\u201d Stellar said. \u201cBecause I did in fact pay for a parking pass at the beginning of the year and it felt like a waste of $170.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The biggest piece of advice that students can give is time management when arriving on campus for the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you get there early, you don\u2019t have trouble at all,\u201d Neal said. \u201cBut if your classes start like at 12, you\u2019re going to be looking for a parking spot, at least five minutes and sometimes you just won\u2019t find one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No matter the day, whether it&#8217;s Monday or Friday, parking for commuter students continues to be an uphill battle for the students of Marshall University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ben Anderson April 17, 2025 HUNTINGTON, W.
