Leading the way was senior Hannah Wyler with a seventh-place overall finish with a time of 17:25, a new 5K PR for the Mineral City, Ohio native.

Cross Country head coach Caleb Bowen said that Wyler made tremendous efforts to be the leader of the pack.

“That was totally what we expected,” Bowen said. “She thrives in being up in the front. She thrives in that leadership role. So, she did exactly what we knew she could do. And she was tough. It definitely wasn’t easy being up in that front seven. But, really proud of her for laying it all on the line, going for it, and ultimately getting that first-team all-conference.”

Wyler became the third female runner in the Sun Belt Conference era to earn all-conference honors joining Abby Herring and Kylee Mastin. Bowen said that it’s been amazing to watch the team develop over the years.

“It’s been a blessing because all these girls have bought into what we’re doing, they have just really trusted in the process and you’ve seen the results,” Bowen said. “It’s been fun, I love coaching all three of them. Everybody, I think they’ve all done a great job of doing the work and racing hard.”

Leading the way for the men’s team was the duo of Justin Lipscomb and Brady Dawkins finishing in the top 20 to lead the team to a 6th place finish out of nine. The two became the first Herd men to earn all-conference honors since 2023. Lipscomb said that his goal going into the race was to step up for the team.

“I was definitely smart about the way I opened up,” Lipscomb said. “The top group went out in the mid 4:30s. I stayed back a little bit and kept them in my vision. My first mile was 4:40 on the dot. And I just kept moving up, kept picking the next person off.”

Marshall Cross Country concludes the season on Friday in Lehigh, Pa. for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.

Marshall Cross Country Recap By Ben Anderson, FM88 Sports’ Director Nov. 12, 2025 HUNTINGTON, W.
