Women’s Soccer Preview

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) \u2014 Marshall Women’s Soccer (1-1) will
\nwrap up their second game of the week as they welcome the Wright State
\nRaiders (2-0-1) to Huntington on Sunday.<\/p>\n
This will be the 5th all-time matchup between these teams. Wright State leads the series at 2-1-1. Marshall was able to beat the Raiders for the first time last season, going on the road and picking up a 2-1 win.<\/p>\n
This will be Marshall’s 2nd game at home this year, after the game with Ohio
\nlast week was postponed due to storms.<\/p>\n
The Herd is looking for a hard reset after a 4-nil loss to the High Point
\nPanthers. Despite Marshall outshooting the Panthers 18-16 and getting many good looks on goal, the Panthers took advantage of fast offensive attacks and defensive lapses from the Herd side to get opportunities, which they didn\u2019t squander.<\/p>\n
High Point had not scored a goal before the contest, but they came out firing and dominated from start to finish to get their first win of the season.
\nBeing at Home should be able to help Marshall.<\/p>\n
Since Hoops Family Field opened in 2013, the Herd is 47-41-18 (.528) all-time and has been consistent under third-year coach Rafa Simoes, winning 62.5% of their home games with an 8-4-4 record.<\/p>\n
Marshall is led by the 5th-year player Bailey Fisher. She sits T-4th all-time in
\ngoals at Marshall with 19 (current record is 23).<\/p>\n
Despite not scoring so far this year, she has been present in the box and has gotten many opportunities, and it seems like only a matter of time before her name gets on the scoring sheet.<\/p>\n
On the Visiting Side, the Wright State Raiders are coming off a dominant win, as they took care of IU Pennsylvania 5-1.<\/p>\n
Wright State has been a team that has been a steady contender in the
\nHorizon League, making the quarterfinals last year.<\/p>\n
The Raiders feature Caitlin Burger. The Senior Midfielder led the team in
\npoints and goals and is coming off a two-goal performance against the
\nCrimson Hawks.<\/p>\n
Both teams are strong offensively, which should set the tone for an offensive
\nmatch.<\/p>\n
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Hoops Family Field. The match will be
\nbroadcast live on WMUL-FM 88.1, with FM 88 Sports\u2019 Anthony Doria and
