Online & eTutoring Appointments

The Marshall University Writing Center is staffed with graduate and undergraduate students ready to help you at any stage of the writing process. Tutors can be consulted on any writing assignment from any discipline.

The Writing Center offers online* consultations to students who cannot come to the Writing Center for face-to-face appointments. Students can choose to make synchronous (online) or asynchronous (eTutoring) appointments.

*Please note that research librarians are not available for online appointments.

Online appointments can be made using our online scheduling system. See instructions below.

To create an online appointment

  1. Log on to marshall.mywconline.com to make your appointment.
  2. The white boxes indicate available times and tutors. Note that only certain tutors are available as “Online” tutors. Be sure to select your desired tutor from those specifically designated as “online.” Then, select your desired time slot by clicking on a white box.
  3. When you click on a white box, you will be prompted to submit information about your session. Be sure to fill out the appointment form completely.
  4. If your tutor is available for more than one option (face-to-face, online, or eTutoring), you will be prompted with the question “Meet Online?” Select “Yes–Meet online.” Save your form. You will receive an email confirmation of your appointment.

To start your live online appointment:

  1. 5 to 10 minutes before your scheduled online meeting, log back into marshall.mywconline.com.
  2. Click on your scheduled appointment time (the box will be in red).
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of your appointment form, and click “start or join online consultation.”
  4. An online screen that allows chat and document-sharing will appear. Your tutor’s name will appear in the top right corner when he/she logs in.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to upload your paper, and start the appointment with your tutor.
  6. You can save changes to your document at any time during your session.
  7. You will be able to access a record of your online session at any time after the appointment ends by logging back in and selecting the appointment.
