Joining Pi Mu Epsilon
The Marshall University chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon is always accepting new members. If you meet the qualifications for membership described below, please contact the faculty advisor, Carl Mummert, for an application form. If you have any questions, please email Carl Mummert at mummertc@marshall.edu
Qualifications for membership
Any person meeting at least one of the following five sets of qualifications may be elected to membership, irrespective of sex, race, religion, or national origin.
- Undergraduate students who have had at least two years of college mathematics including a year of calculus, who have completed their mathematical work with honor (at least a B average), and who are in the top one-third of their class in their general college work. (CLEP credit may be counted).
- Sophomores who are majoring or intend to major in mathematics who have completed at least 3 semesters (5 quarters) of college mathematics, including one semester of calculus, who have achieved a straight A record in all mathematics courses taken and who are in the top quarter of their general college work. (CLEP credit may be counted).
- Graduate students whose mathematical work is at least equivalent to that required of undergraduates and who have maintained at least a B average in mathematics during their last school year prior to their election.
- Members of the faculty in mathematics or related subjects.
- Anyone who has achieved distinction in a mathematical science.
