About Us

our mission

Center for Environmental, Geotechnical and Applied Sciences (CEGAS) will produce a record of high standards and value in research and innovative services in information and geo-technology, environmental management and technology, and engineering. We will be a catalyst for ideas creation, take a leadership role in technological innovation and will collaborate with community stakeholders to develop national class scientific capability for new industries. We are committed to improving the environmental health and economic vitality of the community and state, and to contributing to Marshall University’s quest for national prominence.

The Center for Environmental, Geotechnical, and Applied Sciences (CEGAS) was established in May 1993 through a cooperative effort between Marshall University and the West Virginia Graduate College, which have since merged.
