Escarpeta to sign ‘We Are Marshall’ DVDs Wednesday at MU

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Arlen Escarpeta, who played Young Thundering Herd quarterback Reggie Oliver in “We Are Marshall,” will be signing DVDs of the movie from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, on the Memorial Student Center plaza on Marshall University’s Huntington campus.

The “We Are Marshall” DVD will be released nationwide on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The Marshall Bookstore will sell the DVD on the plaza for $21.99.

“We are thrilled that Arlen Escarpeta will be here to sign the DVDs,” said Dominique Elmore, president of Marshall’s Student Government Association. “ ‘We Are Marshall’ is a film we can all be proud of and Arlen’s performance was a major reason for the movie’s success. Also, we appreciate the book store for making the DVD readily available to the students. I hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity not only to meet Arlen, but to be among the first in the nation to own a copy of ‘We Are Marshall.’ ”

Since filming “We Are Marshall” in 2006, Escarpeta has appeared as a guest star in episodes of “Law & Order: SVU” and “Without a Trace,” both of which will air later this fall; in the lead role in independent feature films “Midnight Son” and Privileged;” and, in the feature film “The Ten,” which also stars Paul Rudd and Jessica Alba.

The signing session Wednesday wraps up a long weekend of special appearances for Escarpeta in Huntington and Charleston. He arrived in Huntington Friday and returns to his home in Los Angles Wednesday evening.
