‘Up Late’ airs final hourlong show this weekend

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – This weekend’s “Up Late” is an hourlong spectacular featuring on-air personalities from WSAZ.

“Up Late” host Jamie LoFiego starts the show by taking a look back at the early days of WSAZ sports director Keith Morehouse’s news reporting career when he interviewed LoFiego’s mother, a PTA president when LoFiego was a child.

“I’m not sure who is more embarrassed, Keith or me,” LoFiego said.

Morehouse also talks about the “We Are Marshall” movie and sports in general.

Also appearing in the last show of the season are WSAZ chief meteorologist Tony Cavalier and anchor Rob Johnson. Sharing a reel of “Up Late” bloopers are Mark Watts, director, and Chris Roberts, production tech. Recent retiree Earl Ward joins the cast to talk about highlights from his 42 years at WSAZ as a cameraman and weekend anchor Susan Nicholas talks about her book, “Are You a Good Stranger?” She is interrupted by her husband, Doug Korstanje, former reporter and now director of marketing and community relations at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

This week’s musical guest is Attack Flamingo and doorkeeper is Milton freshman Robin Rodgers, a business major. In The News returns with Andrew Colegrove, Ona senior. The cast shares footage of the red carpet event for student director Francesca Karle’s “Back to the Bottle” premiere. Captain Kat also makes an appearance.

The show will air from 11 to midnight Saturday, April 26 on MyZTV and on Comcast Channel 25 throughout the weekend.

“Up Late” grew out of the Introduction to Video Production class taught by instructors LoFiego and Eric Himes, who both work with Marshall’s Instructional Television Channel 25. It is produced entirely by students and has a late-night show quality featuring interviews, skits, ridiculous stunts, guest bands and comedy.

Throughout the summer, the “Up Late” crew will continue to tape elements and local musical talent. For more information on how to be a part of the show, contact LoFiego at (304) 696-2967 or e-mail lofiego1@marshall.edu.
