Painter
named director of communications
for Marshall University Research Corporation
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Ginny Painter has been selected to serve as director of communications for the Marshall University Research Corporation.
Painter assumed her duties July 27. She will operate from both Marshall University’s South Charleston and Huntington Campuses.
“Ginny brings an amazing breadth of experience to Marshall. Her pro-active approach and flawless ability to relate to people supplement her considerable technical skills, and will make her an extremely valuable asset to the Research Corporation and an important member of its leadership team,” said Dr. John Maher, vice president for research at Marshall University.
Painter comes to Marshall University after two years with the Division of Science and Research and the West Virginia Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (WVEPSCoR) where she served as managing editor of The Neuron, the division’s quarterly journal of science and research. She also coordinated all media and community outreach activities, advertising, Web site content and special events for the division.
She has more than 20 years experience in nonprofit and government public relations and communications, management and administration, including serving as deputy commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History. She also has served as assistant director of university relations at the University of Charleston, communications director for the state affiliate of the American Lung Association and communications specialist for Black Diamond Girl Scout Council.
“I’m thrilled to join the Marshall University Research Corporation and am looking forward to working with the entire University community to enhance the institution’s research initiatives,” Painter said.
Painter has a bachelor’s degree in journalism/public relations from Marshall University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Charleston.
