Jill Cornelius Underhill, PhD, joined the Communication Studies faculty in Fall 2012. She earned her doctorate in Communication with an emphasis in Persuasion & Social Influence from the University of Maryland in 2012. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in health communication, persuasion, research methods, interpersonal communication, and public speaking. Dr. Underhill’s research program takes an empirical approach to studying the intersection of persuasion, emotion, and cognition in order to better understand the processes mediating and moderating message reception, acceptance, and behavior change.
