The Center for Sermon Studies was founded in 2014 to promote the study of preaching among students at Marshall University, members of faith communities in the tri-state area, and scholars around the world. For the moment, the Center’s primary focus is preaching in the Abrahamic traditions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam); in the future, it may expand to include other world religions.

Projects sponsored by the Center include courses examining various aspects of the sermon; an email discussion list; a catalog that indexes sermons by scripture text, date preached, and other important fields; a LibGuide with links to helpful resources; and an open-access journal that is projected to begin publishing in 2016.
