At the core of the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Gender in Appalachia program is the exciting new research and findings into the various cultural aspects of the people who make up the Appalachian region. Although this research may come from a variety of sources, the program offers fellowships to scholars to assist them in their studies of the Appalachian culture.
Between 1996 and 2003, CSEGA sponsored twelve Rockefeller Scholars. Each of these scholars completed research on the people, lives, and cultures in the Appalachian regions.
