Welcome to the Marshall University Research Corporation. Since 1987, the Research Corporation has been supporting researchers at Marshall University by providing a broad scope of pre-and post-award sponsored research services.

The Marshall University Research Corporation (MURC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for profit corporation chartered under the laws of the State of West Virginia. It serves as the fiscal and administrative agent for sponsored research and other projects conducted by Marshall University. The Corporation has the authority to enter into agreements with external funding agencies on behalf of the University, and it provides a complete range of administrative and fiscal services in support of funded projects. These services include, but are not limited to:

Pre-Award

Grant and Contract Development Office

• Identification of funding opportunities
• Support services for the preparation of proposals and proposal budgets
• Submission of proposals to potential sponsoring agencies
• Training and instruction

Post-Award

Grant and Contract Compliance Office

• Oversight of financial resources to ensure compliance with all governing policies
• Approval of all obligations for sponsored projects
• Serves as liaison between sponsor and investigator regarding financial matters

Personnel and Payroll Office

• Payroll administration
• Benefit administration

Financial Administration Office

• Establishing accounts
• Recording financial transactions
• Preparing financial reports
