American literature, particularly of the 19th century; African-American literature; Southern literature; Slavery and Capitalism; Material Culture

About
Dr. Stromski’s research investigates the intersections of slavery, capitalism, and literature, especially as they relate to the American North. His current book project analyzes the ways slavery influenced representations of Northern labor throughout the nineteenth century.

At Marshall, Dr. Stromski has taught composition courses on the American College Town and literature courses on Southern literature and Literary Theory.
