In spite of the rain, we had over 300 visitors to Huntington’s first Sustainability Fair, and the word is out that people want more. Here are some photos from the fair, and you can see more at http://livinglocalwv.com/?page_id=501.
The 2015 Sustainability Fair project is a cooperative effort between Sustainable Living for WV, the Marshall University Sustainability Department, the Living Local Project, and the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District, as well as a number of other supporters and contributers.
Our goal is to showcase the many different businesses, organizations, and groups that are helping to create a more sustainable community, while encouraging everyone to do more. Together, we can make Huntington a Sustainable City.
The Sustainability Fair will be held on May 16th at Heritage Station from 10am-11pm. The day will be filled with live music, crafts, activities, local foods, and learning workshops. Tour DePATH has merged with our event and will occur in the morning from 10am-noon. Other participants include numerous area artisans and performers, multiple Marshall University departments, Huntington Cycle and Sport, Huntington Road Runners Association, Try This Huntington, the Cabell County Master Gardeners, the Wild Ramp, 30 Mile Meal, the Cabell County Solid Waste Authority, Tri-State Seed Savers, the Native Plant Society, Perennial Favorites Greenhouse, Unlimited Future Small Business Incubator, and more. The list is growing daily, but there is still plenty of time to join us at the fair.
