Majorette and Featured Twirler Auditions

Where: Marshall University Recreation Center
Cost: $25 audition fee

Auditions are open to any current student or incoming freshman interested in being a featured twirler or majorette.  Please review the requirements below.

Majorette Requirements
Each candidate will be taught a group one baton and two baton routine
The one baton routine will consist of various tricks that we perform on the field. In addition, it will showcase your bodywork and technique. These routines will be taught at a clinic before the tryout date.
Candidates need to wear a black bodysuit with black shorts, or capris
Candidates need to have their hair pulled back away from their face

  • Required one baton tricks, in addition to the routine that will be taught, include
  • 3 spin
  • Reverse illusion
  • Regular illusion
  • 2 spin flat toss
  • 2 spin blind
  • Splits (left leg, and right leg
  • Required two baton tricks will be taught at clinic and on the tryout day

Feature Twirler Requirements
Each candidate will perform their own routine to the music of their choice
Music on CD, iPod, iPhone, etc.
Feature twirler routines should consist of one, two, and three baton. In addition, the candidate may use a novelty such as hoop baton, ribbon, single flag, etc. The only novelty not allowed are knives due to tryouts being in the gym.
Candidates need to wear a black bodysuit with black shorts, or capris
Candidates need to have their hair pulled back away from their face
