Instructions for Sending Absence Notifications

Tutors, use the following instructions for sending out absence notifications to HELP staff, students, and parents.  If you have any questions about this process, contact Diane Williams (academic tutors) or Sara Barker (Skills Development tutors).

 

Who: Absence notifications should be sent to the following people:

    • Student (consult the student contact sheet for the correct email).
    • Student’s Parent(s) (consult the student contact sheet for the correct email). NOTE: If there are multiple email addresses, be sure to include all of them.
  • Diane Williams – williamd@marshall.edu (for College HELP tutoring).
  • Sara Barker – barkers@marshall.edu (for Skills Development Tutoring).

 

What:  You can compose the body of your email as you see fit.  However, It must include all of the information in this template

Dear  [student],

I am sorry you missed your tutoring appointment today, [date] at [time].

This was absence number [total number of absences].

[You may provide additional comments and information here]

Your next tutoring appointment is [date] at [time].

I look forward to seeing you then!

Sincerely,

[Your name]

 

Where: You must send this from your Marshall email.
