Community College Transfers

Marshall has strong partnerships with area community colleges to make your transition seamless and ensure your credits work for you.

Articulation Agreements

Marshall University maintains formal articulation agreements with many community colleges and partner institutions. These agreements are designed to:

  • Provide clear 2+2 pathways from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree
  • Ensure maximum transfer of credits
  • Help you stay on track for graduation
  • Reduce time and cost to complete your degree

Students who complete an approved associate degree under an articulation agreement often enter Marshall with junior standing and a clear academic plan.

West Virginia Core Coursework Transfer Agreement

Marshall University proudly participates in the WV Core Coursework Transfer Agreement, which means students who complete the state’s general education core at a participating West Virginia community college can transfer those courses as a completed block.

This allows you to move directly into degree specific coursework sooner.

Course Equivalency & Credit Transfer

Marshall has Course Equivalency Agreements with several community colleges in West Virginia and Kentucky. In addition, Marshall University has a Transfer Course Equivalency System that lists approved transfer credits for a number of colleges and Universities.

Transfer Equivalencies

For the final and authoritative decision regarding any transfer courses, you must have your transcript evaluated during the official admission review process.

General Curriculum Requirements

Students may transfer no more than 72 credit hours completed at one or more community colleges.

Review the Undergraduate Catalog for admission and curriculum requirements.

Degree Requirements

Each academic degree specifies minimum course requirements. In some cases, these requirements cannot be fulfilled with transfer courses regardless of the course level and number of hours transferred. Students should consult the current course catalog for details.
