Native Trees

West Virginia’s native trees form the foundation of the Marshall University Arboretum. These species occur naturally within the state’s forests, mountains, valleys, and waterways, where they play an important role in supporting wildlife, maintaining healthy ecosystems, and preserving the natural character of the landscape. From majestic oaks to colorful flowering trees, these native species help define West Virginia’s rich natural heritage while contributing to the beauty and ecological health of our campus.
