Our\u00a0goal is to ensure the health and vitality of our campus trees in the best way possible, and to integrate them into relevant course work and education\u00a0outreach programs.<\/p>\n<p>An Arboretum is a plot of land or botanical garden devoted to trees and\/or shrubs, used for study and display. We view our campus trees as an educational arboretum.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall&#8217;s<strong>\u00a0Arboretum Project,<\/strong> also known as the<strong> Campus Canopy\u00a0Restoration and Rejuvenation Project,<\/strong>\u00a0began as an effort to reduce potential unhealthy tree <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/campustrees\/files\/Marshall_University_Wallpaper_51.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-235\" src=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/campustrees\/files\/Marshall_University_Wallpaper_51.jpg\" alt=\"Marshall_University_Wallpaper_51\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>conditions and improve tree structures by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Control and treatment of scales and mites<\/li>\n<li>Tree pruning<\/li>\n<li>Dead wood &amp; debris removal<\/li>\n<li>Removal of blighted\/damaged trees<\/li>\n<li>Planting of new trees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To this end, a Tree Committee was formed, comprised of faculty and staff from numerous plant related programs throughout the university.
