Licensure Disclosures
Marshall University's Participation in SARA
Marshall University is a participant in West Virginia’s membership in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA).
SARA is a voluntary agreement among member states, districts, and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offering of postsecondary distance education courses and programs.
Marshall University is located in West Virginia and operates under the authorization of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
Professional Licensure & Experiential Learning
Certain Marshall University programs are designed to meet or help satisfy the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in certain states; because licensure and certification requirements vary by state and may change over time, students are responsible for reviewing state-specific licensure information and consulting the appropriate licensing authority to confirm current requirements and individual eligibility before enrolling, relocating, or seeking licensure.
Marshall University must disclose whether programs leading to professional licensure or certification meet educational requirements in each state. This applies to all formats: on-campus, online, and hybrid.
Students may enroll in a licensure program only if they are physically located in a state/territory where the program meets requirements or attest they will reside there upon graduation.
For out-of-state internships, clinicals, or residencies, Marshall must comply with state laws and obtain authorization before placement. Some states impose restrictions that may prevent participation. Before accepting an assignment outside West Virginia, your college will confirm eligibility and provide details.
If you live outside West Virginia and plan to enroll in a licensure program, contact the licensing board in your state or the state where you intend to work to confirm current requirements before enrolling. Marshall strives to keep licensure information current, but regulations may change at any time.
Look up your state’s licensure or certification requirements and licensure board contacts.
