Marshall University: Office of Admissions Alumni Outreach Ambassador (MUAOA) Agreement

The success of the Marshall University: Office of Admissions Alumni Outreach Ambassador program depends on a network ofvolunteers serving in a variety of roles. This program has been established to assist the Marshall University Office of Admissions’ fulfill its’ mission to support the recruitment and enrollment goals of Marshall University.

This agreement outlines the expectations and responsibilities of Marshall University Alumni Outreach Ambassadors.

All Marshall University Alumni Outreach Ambassadors must commit to work together in the best interests of the Office of Admissions and the University, and not for personal, political, third-party or financial gain.

Being a Marshall University Alumni Outreach Ambassador with the Office of Admissions will not impact the admission applicationreview of a personal or professional acquaintance of the volunteer.

All registered Marshall University Alumni Outreach Ambassador names, phone numbers and email addresses may be viewed byother registered Alumni Outreach Ambassadors.

Qualifications

Required: is not a private educational consultant or agent for current and/or prospective applicants
Required: is a graduate of Marshall University
Effective communicator
Enthusiasm for supporting Marshall University
Agreement to all terms and conditions associated with the Marshall University Office of Admissions Alumni OutreachAmbassador (MUAOA) program.

Responsibilities

Understand expectations of an Alumni Outreach Ambassador, Marshall University and Marshall University Office ofAdmissions and Office of Alumni Relations.
Be knowledgeable about the Marshall University experience, undergraduate admissions and our admissions cycle.
Provide timely feedback to the Office of Admissions and Office of Alumni Relations on the volunteer experience and needs.
Actively participate in volunteer opportunities.
Complete required training.
Complete volunteer wrap-up items including promptly returning any items belonging either to the Marshall UniversityOffice of Admissions and Office of Alumni Relations.
Conduct yourself in a professional manner as a representative of Marshall University.
Abide by NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practice, in particular:

- Accurately represent and promote Marshall University
- Refrain from disparaging comparisons of other secondary or post-secondary institutions
- Do not accept or offer reward or remuneration from secondary school, college, university, agency, or organization forplacement or recruitment of students in the United States
Renew commitment annually.
Time Commitment: Ambassadors are expected to commit approximately 10 hours of service per semester, excluding;trainings, commute times, and communications.
Description of Duties: Ambassadors may be asked to participate in a variety of recruitment activities. These activitiesinclude but are not limited to:
- College and Career Fairs: Alumni Ambassador to work college and career fairs and provide academic information, applicationinformation, and valuable insight for prospective students and their families relative to become a Son/ Daughter of Marshall.
- Admissions Events: Alumni Outreach Ambassadors assist admissions staff at various events, providing context to the MarshallExperience and answering questions from students and their families, high school counselors, and/or community members byparticipating on alumni panels, assisting with check-in and/or mingling throughout the event.
- Call Campaigns: Alumni Outreach Ambassadors connect with prospective students via phone offering a perspective of ouruniversity and serving as an information source for students considering Marshall.
- High School Scholarship Awards Ceremonies: Alumni Outreach Ambassadors serve as a representative of Marshall to presentscholarship awards to graduating seniors of various high schools. Ambassadors are sent scholarship certificates along with awritten script which must be adhered to.
- Student Referrals: Alumni Outreach Ambassadors are an extension of the Marshall University community in various areasaround the world. If there are prospective students that would make great Sons/Daughters of Marshall, please recommend them.A recommendation, however, does not impact the review of the admissions application of the recommended prospective student.
Must return all items borrowed during volunteer activities. Ambassadors are subject to billing for the cost of any and alldamaged or missing item or items (this includes table cloths).
I agree to comply with all University rules and regulations applicable to my work as an Ambassador including, but notlimited to, BOG Policy GA-1, Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Harassment, Sexual & Domestic Misconduct, Stalking, and Retaliation.
Students or prospective students and Marshall University Alumni Outreach Ambassadors are not to be alone at any time or for any reason.
I agree to comply with the requirements of the Dean of Admissions designee directing my ambassador assignment(s).
I understand and agree that I am not a University employee and that my participation in these volunteer activities is not in exchange for any consideration (e.g., pay, benefits, or the promise of future employment).,/li>
I certify that I am physically and emotionally capable of fully participating in volunteer service with Marshall University.
- I assure Marshall University that, to the best of my knowledge, information and belief, I am physically able to engage in assigned activities (which may include but not limited to lifting boxes of 10-50 lbs, standing for long periods of time, walking long distances and walking up and down stairs) without any undue or unusual risk to me or to others.
I understand that good faith efforts will be made relating to my safety and good health. I therefore agree to assume and take on myself all of the risks and responsibilities in any way associated with volunteer service for Marshall University.
- I choose to voluntarily participate in volunteer services for Marshall University with full knowledge that it may be hazardous to me and my property.
I agree to exercise common sense and good judgment and to conduct myself at all times in a manner that is appropriate to this type of experience.
I understand and agree that Marshall University and I both have the right to end my volunteer relationship with Marshall University at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

Insurance

This agreement creates an official volunteer position with Marshall University. As such, all volunteers will be covered by the State\’s liability protection program so long as s/he is performing duties within the scope of the description provided above.

Volunteers are not covered by the state\’s worker compensation program. Volunteers are encouraged to maintain their own health insurance.

If a volunteer should be injured during the course of activities and the injury result from the negligence of a University employee or agent, s/he would have the same legal rights to seek compensation as would any visitor to the campus.

Confidential Information

Confidential information is all information that either the Office of Admissions or the Office of Alumni Relations considers to be confidential, personally identifying or proprietary information of the office or third-party sources. Confidential information may include, but is not limited to: information about name, mailing address, email, phone, degree, date of birth, identification numbers, ethnicity, event registration, and event participation, information about prospective, admitted, enrolled and continuing students.

Confidential information also may include, but is not limited to, unpublished or pre-released versions of both Office of Admissions and Office of Alumni Relations or third-party documents, emails and information, internal-use-only or limited-circulation documents and information, and contact information for alumni volunteers.

Volunteer agrees to not disclose any confidential information, and not appropriate, distribute, photocopy, reproduce, or replicate any confidential information without written consent of the Office of Admissions and Office of Alumni Relations.

Volunteer agrees that any list or aggregated confidential information provided is for one-time use only, and only for the intended and approved purpose. Proprietary or confidential information is not to be referenced in or used to construct communications, unless permission is granted from the Office of Admissions.

Volunteer agrees to follow all Office of Admissions policies and procedures, state and federal law, to respect the wishes governing use of confidential data, as communicated to the Office of Admissions and the university or affinity partners or through third-party sources.

Volunteer agrees that the Office of Admissions is the sole determinant of what information will be shared.

Volunteer understands that, as a volunteer with the Office of Admissions, s/he may be held personally liable for any misuse of confidential information.

Volunteer agrees not to use any confidential information for his/her own benefit or that of his/her employer, family member, friend or associate.

Volunteer understands and agrees to the expectations and responsibilities outlined in this agreement. Failure to adhere to this or any other university policy may result in termination of the volunteer relationship at the discretion of the University.

Marshall University: Office of Admissions Alumni Outreach Ambassador Agreement (MUAOA)(Required)

I have read the above Marshall University Alumni Outreach Ambassador (MUAOA) Agreement and agree to the terms set forth. I am aware of this agreement and am signing this agreement of my own free will. Further, by signing this agreement, I acknowledge my understanding that the Dean of Admissions or other designated MU official, shall have the right to release me from this agreement without prior notice.

Non-Discrimination Agreement(Required)

Marshall University prohibits discrimination against and/or harassment of applicants, students, faculty or staff on the basis of race, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability, status as a veteran or any classification protected by local, state or federal law. I agree to comply with Marshall University non-discrimination standards.

Confidentiality Clause(Required)

In the course of their service, MUAOA volunteers will be privy to information that is sensitive or proprietary to the Office of Admissions or the University. They may also be privy to discussions of issues and ideas that are not intended to be shared outside of the Office of Admissions or those individuals included in the discussions. The Office of Admissions cannot function effectively unless confidentiality is maintained. I agree to comply with federal FERPA laws as well as Marshall University confidentiality procedures. Criminal Background Check(Required)

I understand that I will not be allowed to begin volunteer work for Marshall University until a criminal background check has been completed. By signing below, I hereby authorize Marshall University or the Marshall University Alumni Association to conduct a criminal background check on me.
