There’s always something going on at Marshall, but let’s be honest — sometimes it’s nice to get off campus for a bit. Whether you’re a freshman finding your way or a future member of the Herd, here are five of our go-to off-campus spots:

  1. Ritter Park: If you love the outdoors, Ritter Park is a must-visit. It’s the perfect spot for a walk, jog or bike ride, and it’s also home to the award-winning Rose Garden. You’ll even find tennis and pickleball courts if you’re feeling competitive.
  2. Heritage Farm Museum & Village: Want to get a feel for the area? Heritage Farm is a hands-on way to experience Appalachian culture with artisan demos, cool exhibits and an outdoor adventure park. You can say hi to the animals, hop on a wagon ride or just explore. It’s a fun mix of history, nature and adventure — and a great spot to take friends or family when they’re visiting.
  3. Grindstone Coffeology: A favorite among students, Grindstone Coffeology has everything you need to refuel or just relax. Grab a maple oat milk latte and a slice of banana bread, and settle into your new off-campus study spot!
  4. The Market: Looking for a fun indoor venue? The Market has you covered with local shops, tasty eats and live music. It’s the perfect place to explore the local scene with friends, especially on rainy days!
  5. Central City: Ready for a weekend adventure? Central City has it all, including antique shops, art galleries, a café and a bookstore. Plus, every business is locally owned, so you’re supporting the Huntingdon community while you shop.

Are you ready to explore these places for yourself? Plan a visit to Marshall and
and experience them firsthand!
