Transfer Orientation
Our Transfer Orientation Session is designed to help you quickly connect, get answers and feel confident before your classes begin.
- Tuesday, July 7 | 9 a.m. – Noon
- Optional afternoon programming available
Transfer students are welcome to attend any available orientation date however transfer-specific programming is only offered on July 7. Please note, the traditional orientation sessions run 9 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.
Flexible Programs for Transfer Students
Marshall offers several programs specifically designed to help transfer students get the most out of their transfer credits and finish their degrees efficiently:
- Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) – Designed for students with technical or associate degrees.
- Regents Bachelor of Arts (RBA) – Flexible degree options for adult learners and returning students.
- Healthcare Pathways – Clear routes into high-demand healthcare careers.
Community College Transfers
Marshall has strong partnerships with area community colleges to make your transition seamless and ensure your credits work for you.
Articulation Agreements
Marshall University maintains formal articulation agreements with many community colleges and partner institutions. These agreements are designed to:
- Provide clear 2+2 pathways from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree
- Ensure maximum transfer of credits
- Help you stay on track for graduation
- Reduce time and cost to complete your degree
Students who complete an approved associate degree under an articulation agreement often enter Marshall with junior standing and a clear academic plan.
West Virginia Core Coursework Transfer Agreement
Marshall University proudly participates in the WV Core Coursework Transfer Agreement, which means students who complete the state’s general education core at a participating West Virginia community college can transfer those courses as a completed block.
This allows you to move directly into degree specific coursework sooner.
Course Equivalency & Credit Transfer
Marshall has Course Equivalency Agreements with several community colleges in West Virginia and Kentucky. In addition, Marshall University has a Transfer Course Equivalency System that lists approved transfer credits for a number of colleges and Universities.
Transfer Equivalencies
For the final and authoritative decision regarding any transfer courses, you must have your transcript evaluated during the official admission review process.
General Curriculum Requirements
Students may transfer no more than 72 credit hours completed at one or more community colleges.

Degree Requirements
Each academic degree specifies minimum course requirements. In some cases, these requirements cannot be fulfilled with transfer courses regardless of the course level and number of hours transferred. Students should consult the current course catalog for details.
