Homecoming Schedule of Events – Marshall University Homecoming

MONDAY, Oct. 13

5:00 p.m. – Unity Walk & Homecoming Court Announcement
INFO: Students, teams, organizations, clubs, residence halls, faculty, staff, and community members are welcome to join in this unifying walk around campus from the Marshall Rec Center to the Memorial Student Center Plaza to show their Marshall pride! Registered student orgs may compete in a banner competition for cash prizes. Immediately following the walk, the Homecoming court will be announced.

6:00 p.m. – Blizzard of Buck-A-Roos
INFO: Blizzard of Buck-A-Roos is a fast-paced game show rooted in audience participation where students perform wacky stunts to win free cash and prizes, no strings attached! Event will take place on the Memorial Student Plaza immediately following the Unity Walk.

TUESDAY, OCT. 14

10:00 a.m. – Homecoming Court Voting
INFO: Students can vote for their top two candidates for Marshall Royalty via HerdLink. Voting information will be available on HerdLink and the Marshall U app.

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Taco Tuesday Murder Mystery Night
INFO: Join us for a dramatic, over the top murder mystery party set in the hills of Santa Barbara! This interactive event throws you into a world of suspicious neighbors, secrets, thrill, and one shocking murder! Can you solve the crime and identify the murder. Free Birria Tacos will be at this event for the first 100 students. Event will take place in BE5 in the lower level of the Memorial Student Center.

7:15 p.m. – Marshall Men’s Soccer vs. Oakland

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 15

12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Salsa Making Competition
INFO: To close out Hispanic Heritage Month, join the ACE Center on the Memorial Student Center Plaza for their first ever salsa making competition! Chef Isobel “Izzy” Cross from Huntington’s Kitchen will be hosting.

6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. – Meet Jim at Jim’s
INFO: Jim Thornton, Marshall alum and Homecoming grand marshal, will host a meet and greet at Jim’s Steak and Spaghetti House from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to connect with Herd fans. Thornton is the announcer of “Wheel of Fortune” and “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.”

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. – CAB-Sino Night: The Saloon Showdown
INFO: Giddy up for Wild West Night night of games, grit, and good ol’luck! So grab some friends, bring your best poker face, and meet us in the John Marshall Dining Room and Shawkey Dining Room on the second floor of the Memorial Student Center!

THURSDAY, OCT. 16

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Office Decorating Competition
INFO: Offices across campus are encouraged to decorate their space using the Homecoming theme “Wheel of Thunder.” Members of the Marshall University Alumni Association board of directors and other volunteers will spend the day visiting these wonderful offices. Awards will be presented on Friday, Oct. 17, during the bonfire.

4:00 p.m. – Marshall Women’s Volleyball vs. ULM

5:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. – Homecoming StamFEED
INFO: We’re turning up the flavor with a one-of-a-kind event that will tantalize your taste buds, support local businesses, and reconnect you with fellow alumni. Join us as we kick off Homecoming weekend in Downtown Huntington at several favorite restaurants! Tickets are $75 and proceeds will benefit a Marshall University Alumni Association scholarship. 7:30 p.m. – Hoops In Huntington
INFO: Marshall Athletics presents the 4th Annual ‘Hoops in Huntington’ event at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 in front of Pullman Square, located on Third Avenue in downtown Huntington. Fans are encouraged to get to the event at 6:30 p.m. for an hour to enjoy an autograph session with the teams, along with knockout competitions, inflatables and food options that will be available leading up to the event’s 7:30 p.m. start.

8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. – Wild N Owt West: Rhythm Rodeo
INFO: Ride with rhythm, saddle with soul and watch the night unfold. Come join us as Southern Soul Superstar Lamar Brace host and Dj Reggie spins the records for a Line Dancing experience for the community and a trail ride battle between the Alphas vs Kappas. Event will take place at Heritage Station (210 11th Street, Huntington, WV).

FRIDAY, OCT. 17

10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – WMUL Car Bash
INFO: Join WMUL on Buskirk Field for the annual Car Bash!

11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Party on the Plaza
INFO: Open to all students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members — join us on the plaza for a jam packed event with Texas Roadhouse, Chick-Fil-A, Pepsi products, Italian Ice, and a ton of free prizes given away every 30 minutes!

12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. – Parent & Family Weekend Check-In
INFO: If you’re attending Parent & Family Weekend, be sure to come by the Memorial Student Lobby for check-in to receive your t-shirts, meal tickets, and information for the weekend’s activities. For more information, contact Dr. Gabe Brown at brownga@marshall.edu.

6:00 p.m. – Homecoming Parade
INFO: What’s homecoming without a parade! Starting in Downtown Huntington on 4th Ave and ending in front of the Memorial Student Center on 5th Ave, join us for an exciting parade with music, floats, and homecoming spirit.

7:00 p.m. – Homecoming Bonfire
INFO: Immediately following the Homecoming Parade, join us on Harless Field for a pep rally and bonfire. Our Marshall community can enjoy a bonfire with entertainment from the Marching Thunder, Marshall University cheerleaders, plus activities and appearances by Marshall coaches and players!

7:00 p.m. – Black Alumni Hall of Fame
INFO: Marshall University Black Alumni is pleased to announce its Black Alumni Hall of Fame with cocktails at 7 p.m. and reception at 8 p.m. in the Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall. This event will honor the achievements of the university’s most esteemed graduates. Tickets are $65 per person and a table is $600 if purchased through Zelle, or $67.86 and $622.20 if purchased through PayPal.

10:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. – Silent Disco
INFO: Get ready for a dance party like no other this Homecoming. Homecoming 24’s most popular event is back by popular demand. 3 DJ’s, 2 many glow sticks, and 1 dance floor! Grab a pair of wireless headphones, pick your station, and dance the night away to the beats you want to hear, whether its hip hop, R&B, throwbacks, or pop bangers, we have it! Event will be in the Don Morris Room on the second floor of the Memorial Student Center.

SATURDAY, OCT. 18

12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Parent & Family Weekend Tailgate
INFO: Join us between Freshman North & South before the game for a Parent & Family Tailgate! Tickets are required and are part of the Parent & Family Weekend package.

12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Marshall University Alumni Tailgate
INFO: ALL are invited to this wonderful tailgating experience, hosted by the Marshall University Alumni Association and Marshall University Black Alumni! At a brand new location between Marshall Recreation Center and the Sorrell Maintenance Building, come enjoy great food, hang with friends, play tailgating games, enjoy live music and performances by the Marching Thunder, Marshall University cheerleaders, and appearances by special guests including coaches and players. Don’t miss the famous Marshall University Alumni Tailgate in its new location prior to the game! Tickets can be purchased here.

3:30 p.m. – Marshall Football vs. Texas State
