Application Deadlines

Important Dates

International applicants must submit ALL required documents by the following deadlines to guarantee consideration for admission:

  • Spring Semester – October 15
  • Summer semester – March 15
  • Fall semester – June 15

Some graduate programs may have an application deadline that is different than those listed above. For more information about a specific program, please email graduateadmissions@marshall.edu.

Requirements by International Student Type
Freshman

If alternate documents are required, they will be listed on your application portal.

All documents must be received directly from the issuing source to be considered official. We may be able to verify some English examinations online once an unofficial copy is received. Please refer to the Official Credential Policy below for more details. 

Transfer

If alternate documents are required, they will be listed on your application portal.

If you have 30 or more earned credit hours at the university level from an accepted, accredited institution, your secondary coursework may not be required.

All documents must be received directly from the issuing source to be considered official. We may be able to verify some English examinations online once an unofficial copy is received. Please refer to the Official Credential Policy below for more details.

Graduate
  • Complete Application (Multiple graduate student options available)
    • Admission to a graduate program requires a bachelor’s degree from an accepted, accredited institution. Many graduate programs have additional requirements. For information on program-specific requirements, please visit the appropriate section of the Marshall University Graduate Catalog.
    • After an application is submitted, an applicant will see a list of required materials on the application portal homepage.
  • Official NACES Evaluation of all required college-level coursework if the school is outside the United States
  • Official United States college transcripts, if a US college was attended
  • Official Proof of English Proficiency

Study Abroad

This student type is reserved for existing study abroad exchange programs. For more information, please email our Study Abroad office at studyabroad@marshall.edu.

Additional Information
  1. Submit the Online Application
    • Once the application has been submitted, you will be able to view your required documents and how to submit them via the application portal.
    • If a representative is assisting with the application process, please submit both the Application Cover Sheet and the Student Information Access Form.
    • Once all required checklist items have been received, you will receive a decision letter via email.
  2. International Application Fee
    • Currently application fees for degree-seeking programs are waived for international applicants.
      • If an application fee is required for your chosen program, it will appear on your checklist.
  • Marshall University requires a course-by-course evaluation by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) for each secondary (undergraduate only), and post-secondary academic credential earned outside the United States. This evaluation must include a CGPA and be based on authenticated/verified documents. A list of accepted evaluation companies is available at naces.org/members.
  • Please request the evaluation be sent directly to Marshall University at international@marshall.edu or via the evaluation company’s portal for Marshall University.
  • There is no need to send, or upload, additional copies of your credentials, or to have your school send them, to Marshall at this time.
  • Can be used to satisfy Proof of English Proficiency. See Proof of English Proficiency page for more information.
  • Only required for direct entry into some programs, and in certain circumstances. For example: College of Science, College of Engineering and Computer Sciences, Nursing. See the Undergraduate Catalog for more details or email international@marshall.edu.
  • To have official SAT results sent, contact CollegeBoard at www.collegeboard.org and have them send your official report directly to Marshall University. The Code for Marshall University is #5396.
Official Credential Policy

Official credentials/documents are those received by the Marshall University Office of International Admissions directly from the issuing examination board, credential evaluation company, school, or records office. Student copies of transcripts, evaluations, faxed copies of college transcripts, exams, or credentials issued to any party other than Marshall University are not considered official.

NACES member credential evaluation reports must be sent to Marshall directly from the evaluation company to be considered official. We have an online portal with many evaluation companies.
