Our social groups serve children and teens with social pragmatic deficits. We hope to provide students with behavioral and cognitive strategies to understand and perform better in their home school and community.
Through group therapy, we hope to provide children and teens the behavior and cognitive strategies to understand and perform socially in their home, school, and community. The group dynamic allows for better generalization of skills as it is seen as a more authentic way in which to address these all-important social skills.
The groups take place at the Marshall University Speech and Hearing Center (MUSHC) located in Smith Hall on Marshall University’s campus. Groups typically meet weekly or twice monthly. Day and time are subject to change.
Placement in the groups is based on an evaluation and recommendations from MUSHC supervisors and clinicians. Placement may also depend on capacity limits within the groups.
