Nearly two hundred people, including local high school students, university students and area lawyers attended a special oral argument session of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit at Marshall University today.

It was the inaugural visit by the court to Marshall University, an event usually reserved for universities with law schools.

Based in Richmond, Virginia, the court hears appeals from federal district courts in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as from federal administrative agencies.

Three oral arguments were heard by Chief Judge Roger L. Gregory, Judge Albert Diaz and Judge Stephanie Thacker.  Thacker is a Marshall University alumna and active supporter of the university’s Simon Perry Center for Constitutional Democracy and the Drinko Academy.
