The Marshall University School of Music will present an evening concert and an afternoon workshop on Brazilian instrumental music with Connection Trio, on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
The workshop will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 7 in Smith Recital Hall. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. the same day in Smith Recital Hall. Both are free and open to all.
Connection Trio is made up of pianist Daniel Baker, flutist Davson de Souza and guitarist Vinicius Vianna, whose performances celebrate Brazilian instrumental music. The Brazilian musical group combines classical music and jazz with regional influences, incorporating elements of bossa nova, samba, choro and traditional music to take listeners on a musical journey.
“With a unique combination of talents and an eclectic repertoire, the Connection Trio will delight music lovers with its rich and captivating sound, presenting a collection of original compositions and reinterpretations of Brazilian music classics,” said Professor Dr. Julio Alves. “Each rendition is an immersive musical journey that captivates listeners from the first chord to the last note.
“Fans of Brazilian instrumental music and music lovers in general are invited to attend the workshop and the concert, and to dive into this unique sound journey, where flute, piano and guitar meet in perfect harmony.”
The concert and workshop are presented with funding from the Joan C. Edwards Distinguished Professors in the Arts Endowment, the School of Music and the College of Arts and Media.
