Marshall University’s School of Music presents Barbara Nissman, Steinway Legend and 2023 West Virginia Music Hall of Fame Inductee, who has been hailed as one of the last great pianists in the Romantic tradition of Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Rubinstein.
All are welcome to enjoy an evening of great music and an informal chat with Nissman at the piano. She will perform “Music to Love,” featuring works by Beethoven, Schubert, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in Smith Recital Hall. The event is free and open to all.
Nissman also will offer a master class at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, in Smith Recital Hall. This event is also free and open to the public, as she shares performance practice insights and experiences with the piano students of Dr. Henning Vauth.
“We are honored to host a guest musician of Barbara Nissman’s caliber, who will share her world-class artistry with the community and our students at Marshall,” Vauth said.
