The Fulbright Specialist Program connects United States academics and professionals with institutions around the world for short-term, project-based exchanges.
McFall’s three-year term runs through August 2028, and she is eligible to be matched with higher education projects in more than 150 countries.
“Being selected to serve in this capacity allows me to lean into the work that I believe in at my core. My teaching philosophy is built around connecting learning to real life,” McFall said. “I believe that education should extend beyond the classroom and give people meaningful opportunities to engage with the world around them.”
This appointment recognizes McFall’s professional expertise and enhances Marshall University’s visibility worldwide.
Specialist assignments typically last two to six weeks and focus on advancing education, training, curriculum development, capacity building and institutional planning.
Host institutions design and submit project proposals that align with their strategic priorities, and Fulbright Specialists provide targeted expertise to support these goals.
“I am deeply committed to building communities around learning, and these types of projects create space for meaningful exchange that can have a lasting impact both here at home and in the global community,” McFall said.
This is not McFall’s first experience with the Fulbright Program. In 2023, she spent time as a Fulbright Scholar in Wrocław, Poland.
Through these exchanges, participants help shape innovative educational practices and contribute to institutional growth both abroad and at their home universities.
“I want my work to reflect a genuine partnership, where everyone at the table feels heard and valued. If, at the end of a project, the community feels inspired to keep the momentum going, then I will have accomplished what I set out to do,” McFall said.
