Share
The Marshall University School of Art & Design will display the creativity of its emerging artists through three exhibitions this November. Hosted in the Charles W. & Norma C. Carroll Gallery and the Birke Art Gallery in the Visual Arts Center, these shows celebrate the culmination of student work during their early and final years in the School of Art & Design.

The exhibitions include:

“Traditions,” which will be on display Nov. 10-13 in the Carroll Gallery.
This exhibit explores the theme of traditions through a variety of media and features the work of Melia Beckford, Logan McConville and Amy Pabst. A reception, including a meet-and-greet with the authors, is planned for 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10.

“Inhabitants,” which will be on view Nov. 17-20 in the Carroll Gallery. This exhibit
showcases the creative voices of Nicole LeGrow, Ashley Morris, Addyson Aftanas and Alexandra Sawyer as they describe accountability, celebration, individuality, memory and culture with 3D work throughout Marshall University’s largest gallery. A reception is planned for 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17.

“The Lighter All-Nighters: Selected Foundations Works,” which will be exhibited Nov. 17-Dec. 5 in the Birke Art Gallery. This juried exhibition celebrates the next generation of artists, featuring standout projects from students who recently completed the Foundations program. It offers a glimpse into the early stages of artistic growth and experimentation as students complete the first years of the program.
An awards reception is planned for 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19.

“These exhibitions highlight the incredible work by our students at two of the most crucial points in some of their programs here at the School of Art & Design,” said Gallery Director Sophia Celdrán. “We encourage the community to come see the results of our students’ hard work and learning.”

All exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. All are welcome to support emerging artists and experience local art. For more information, contact Celdrán at galleries@marshall.edu.
