Santa-Marco returns for Herd Holiday Dec. 8

Marshall University will once again welcome the community to campus for its annual Herd Holiday celebration, a festive evening of winter traditions, family activities and Marshall spirit.
This year’s event will take place 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 at the Memorial Student Center on the Huntington campus. Herd Holiday has grown into one of Marshall’s most beloved traditions, drawing students, families, alumni and community members together to celebrate the season.

“Herd Holiday brings out the very best of our Marshall family,” said Mallory Jarrell, director of events and brand management. “Each year, we strive to create a warm, meaningful experience where our community can slow down, enjoy time together and embrace the joy of the season. We’re excited to welcome everyone back for a night full of connection and tradition.”

Event Features
• Tree-Lighting Ceremony
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with the ceremonial lighting of the Memorial Student Center Plaza tree, led by Marshall University First Lady Alys Smith.
• Live Performances
Marshall’s Homecoming Royalty will emcee performances throughout the evening, including appearances by children from the Early Education STEAM Center, Marshall’s dance club, the Emeraldettes, and True Impact Performing Arts.
• Seasonal Treats
Guests are invited inside the student center to enjoy holiday favorites such as cookies, hot chocolate, and s’mores.
• Holiday Crafts & Activities
From 6 to 8 p.m., attendees can participate in a variety of kid-friendly and Marshall-themed activities, including ornament-making, stocking-filling, coloring stations, reindeer bait kits, and writing letters to Santa.
• Photo Opportunities
Families can take photos with Santa-Marco and enjoy several festive photo spots throughout the venue.
