Marshall Theatre to present Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’

Marshall University’s School of Theatre & Dance will present William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” April 22-26 in the Playhouse in the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. April 22-25, and at 2 p.m. April 26.

This clever, fast-paced Shakespearean comedy is a tale of love, wit and mistaken identity. Directed by John Colclough, who heads the School of Theatre & Dance, the show’s cast includes the following actors, who include students and members of the community: Mike Murdock, Braden Burnside, Eliza Aulick, Gabby Belomy, Roza Beller, Maggie Piaskowski, Matt “Slice” Hicks, Thaddeus Stambaugh, Daniel Calwell, George Kinley, Sam McElwain, Harper Aulick, Jacob Gillispie, Noah Ritchie, Josiah Baker, Tom Henkel, Vance Robinson and Audrey Steele.

“I chose Much Ado About Nothing because it’s just a really fun, lively story that still feels relatable today,” Colclough said. “William Shakespeare gives us characters who fall in love, get things wrong, and figure it out along the way — often in hilarious ways. It’s a great mix of comedy and heart, and it lets both actors and audiences enjoy the humor while still connecting to something real.”

Tickets are $22 at the door for the general public, $5 for Marshall students and $15 for seniors age 60 and older and for Marshall employees. Admission is free for Marshall students who attend on April 22 with a valid MU ID.
