Marshall University partners with Barnes & Noble College to elevate the campus store experience

Marshall University has partnered with Barnes & Noble College (BNC), one of the nation’s leading campus retail and course materials providers, to operate the university’s campus bookstore, with the new store officially opening Monday, July 20, 2026. The university and Barnes & Noble College have worked collaboratively throughout the summer to ensure a seamless transition and uninterrupted service for Marshall students, faculty, staff and alumni.

“We are excited to welcome Barnes & Noble College to Marshall University,” said Brandi Jacobs-Jones, senior vice president for university operations. “This partnership reflects our commitment to providing an outstanding campus experience by offering high-quality course materials, apparel, gifts and customer service that support student success and school spirit.”

A special grand opening celebration is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Marshall University Store, located in the Memorial Student Center at the corner of John Marshall Drive and 5th Avenue. Members of the campus community are invited to attend and learn more about the new partnership while exploring the store’s expanded offerings.

“We are honored to partner with Marshall University and become part of the Marshall community,” said Christina Butler, regional manager for Barnes & Noble College. “Our goal is to create a campus store experience that reflects the pride, traditions and spirit of Marshall while delivering exceptional service and value to students.”

The Marshall University Bookstore will continue to serve as the campus destination for textbooks, course materials, technology, apparel, gifts and supplies while introducing new programs and services designed to meet the evolving needs of the university community.

In addition to the store located in the Memorial Student Center, BNC will also operate a secondary store located at the Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
