Marshall University’s School of Music will present a faculty recital Sunday, Sept. 27, celebrating both music and visual art. It will be at 3 p.m. Sept. 27 in Smith Recital Hall.
The recital will feature Dr. Michael Stroeher on trombone and Dr. Sara Lee on piano, performing “Anthony Plog’s Four Themes on Paintings of Goya,” accompanied by paintings from artist Francisco Goya.
“Goya was one of the most influential painters of the 19th century and is considered one of the first modernists,” said Stroeher, a professor of low brass at Marshall. “The music is a depiction of some of the bizarre and inspirational aspects of his style.”
The concert is free and open to all. It is sponsored by the School of Music in the College of Arts and Media.
