New faculty hires
· Dr. Huayi Tang – assistant professor and director, Marshall University Student Investment Management Program
Tang joins the Department of Finance, Economics, and International Business with a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Utah. A Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), he brings expertise in corporate and municipal finance, institutional investing and sustainability. His research includes a forthcoming article in the Journal of Accounting Research on racial disparities in financial complaints. Tang previously taught at the University of Kentucky and University of Utah and served as an account manager at China Everbright Bank.
· Dr. David Wiley – term associate professor and director, Brad D. Smith Student Incubator; academic affairs fellow in AI education
Wiley brings extensive experience in generative AI, open education and entrepreneurship. He has founded or co-founded several organizations including Lumen Learning and Degree and has been recognized by Fast Company as one of the “100 Most Creative People in Business.” He has also served as an Education Fellow at Creative Commons and president of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology from 2022-2023.
New center directors
· Dr. Monisha Gupta – director, Service Wire Company Transformative Sales and Service Excellence Center
Gupta, a term associate professor of marketing, has years of industry experience and previously served as director of the Truist Center for Leadership. She has a Ph.D. in economics and has led initiatives such as the Truist Emerging Leaders Certificate Program. She has received the Dr. Robert P. Alexander Mentorship Award and the LCOB Faculty Service Award.
· Dr. Susan Lanham – director, Center for Cyber Innovation in Business
Lanham, associate professor of accounting, is a forensic accounting expert with more than 30 years of litigation support experience. She earned a GIAC Open Source Intelligence certification and teaches courses in forensic and investigative accounting. Her work has been published in the Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting and Suffolk University Law Review.
· Dr. Jeff Larson – director, Center of Excellence in Healthcare Management Research
Larson, assistant professor in the Department of Management and Health Care Administration, brings 22 years of hospital system leadership experience. His research focuses on leadership in health care and has been published in Medical Care Research and Review and Health Care Management Review. He earned a Ph.D. in management and organizations from the University of Arizona.
· Dr. Uyi Lawani – director, Truist Center for Leadership
Lawani, associate professor of strategic management, has been with the college since 2006 and is a recipient of the Dr. Robert P. Alexander Mentorship Award. He has served on numerous university committees and published research in the International Journal of Healthcare Management and Pan-Pacific Journal of Business Research.
