Jackson County becomes the ninth school district to join the growing Direct Admit effort, which simplifies the path to college by eliminating traditional admissions hurdles such as applications and associated fees. Through this program, qualified students are automatically admitted to Marshall University, streamlining their transition from high school to college.
With this expansion, Ripley High School and Ravenswood High School students are now eligible to participate and benefit from early, direct access to higher education opportunities at Marshall.
Jackson County Schools Superintendent William P. Hosaflook said he was excited about the new partnership.
“We are extremely pleased to join Marshall University in this important initiative,” Hosaflook said. “The Direct Admit program aligns perfectly with our commitment to ensuring that every student has access to postsecondary opportunities. This partnership removes barriers and opens new doors for our graduates.”
Marshall University officials say the expansion reflects the institution’s ongoing dedication to improving college access for students across the region.
Jerry Ross is Marshall’s chief enrollment officer.
““Marshall University is committed to opening doors for students across West Virginia,” Ross said. “By bringing Jackson County Schools into the Direct Admit program, we’re not only simplifying the admissions process — we’re strengthening the bridge between high school and college.”
