The 2026 inductees are Commodore Tony Martin, Alys Smith and Louis Weisberg.
The Business Hall of Fame recognizes alumni and individuals who have made a significant impact on Marshall University and the broader business community. Each honoree demonstrates outstanding moral character, professional achievement and a sustained commitment to service.
Commodore Tony Martin
A native of Huntington, Commodore Tony Martin is a retired U.S. Naval officer with 31 years of service, including 27 years at sea. During his distinguished military career, he commanded multiple ships and directed operations during the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. He earned 27 medals, including the Legion of Merit.
Following his retirement from the Navy, Martin served as director of Corporate Operations for State Electric Supply Co. He has remained deeply engaged with Marshall, mentoring future leaders, teaching business courses and serving two consecutive terms as president of the Lewis College of Business Executive Advisory Board. He also contributes his expertise to several community and professional boards.
Alys Smith
Attorney, philanthropist and First Lady of Marshall University, Alys Smith is a champion for leadership development, entrepreneurship and educational access across West Virginia. She co-founded the Wing 2 Wing Foundation and has launched initiatives that expand opportunities in education and business innovation.
Smith founded the annual Women Warriors Summit, which inspires women to embrace leadership, purpose and personal growth. She also develops programs that equip students with mentorship, leadership skills and real-world experience, strengthening pathways to professional success.
Louis Weisberg
Louis Weisberg has served as president of Service Wire Company since 1990. A manufacturing executive and long-time supporter of Marshall University, Weisberg has driven innovation and built multigenerational teams within the organization.
He has championed student internships and scholarships and supported programs in engineering, computer science and entrepreneurship, helping prepare the next generation of West Virginia business leaders.
The 2026 Business Hall of Fame celebration is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation. The evening will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the induction ceremony at 8 p.m.
